What is EXIF Inspector and what does it do?
The Image EXIF & Metadata Inspector is a free online tool that reads the hidden EXIF header inside photos and shows camera make/model, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, lens info, dimensions, date taken, and GPS coordinates — all in a clean, readable panel.
Parsing happens locally in your browser with a dedicated binary EXIF reader, so personal photos, location data, and timestamps are never uploaded or stored on any server.
- Extract camera make, model, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and focal length.
- Show image dimensions, file size, color space, and capture date/time.
- Read GPS latitude/longitude when the camera saved location data.
- Support JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and WebP photos from phones and DSLRs.
- Display every tag in a structured, human-readable table.
How does EXIF Inspector work?
The parser reads the JPEG/TIFF header segments of your image locally, locates the APP1 EXIF block, and decodes the binary tag directory into readable values. Numeric camera tags are mapped to their standard EXIF field names and units.
Values render instantly in a metadata table with zero network requests. If a photo contains GPS IFD data, the coordinates and timestamp are decoded the same way and displayed alongside the shot settings.
100% private: all processing happens locally in your browser using client-side WebAssembly, WebCrypto, WebAudio, and HTML5 Canvas. Your files are never uploaded to any server.
