What is APNG Viewer and what does it do?
The APNG Animation Viewer decodes Animated PNG files frame-by-frame and plays them back using an HTML5 Canvas renderer.
It displays frame count, delay timings, and lets you step through each frame or toggle auto-play.
- Play and pause APNG animations with frame-by-frame scrubbing controls.
- Display total frame count, per-frame delay (ms), and loop count.
- Export any individual frame as a PNG image.
- Show image dimensions, bit depth, and color type from PNG headers.
How does APNG Viewer work?
Reads the APNG binary, locates fcTL and fdAT chunks to extract frames, composites each onto a canvas, and animates using requestAnimationFrame.
100% private: all processing happens locally in your browser using client-side WebAssembly, WebCrypto, WebAudio, and HTML5 Canvas. Your files are never uploaded to any server.
